Overview
Development Economics Study Program is one of the
undergraduate programs in the Faculty of Economics and Business of Udayana
University.This
Self-Assessment Report (SAR) is intended to describe and evaluate all
achievements, areas of improvements, and required policies related to the
Development Economics Study Program (DESP) at the Faculty of Economics and
Business, Udayana University. The criteria preparation and evaluation are
aligned with guidelines set by the AUN-QA Assessment at Program Level which
consist of an introduction, discussions on all criteria, and analysis of
strengths and weaknesses which in turn will serve as a reference in formulating
policies needed for the improvement plan. This SAR preparation involves various
parties ranging from academic staff, students, alumni, to graduates users who
have been informed beforehand through socializations regarding their
significance and roles in improving the quality of DESP.
The curriculum of DESP has been formulated based on the
vision, mission, and objectives of DESP which are derived from the vision,
mission, and objectives of the Faculty of Economics and Business and Udayana
University. At the end of their study period, Development Economics Study
Program students are expected to be able to meet nine ELO, which consist of six
specific outcomes and three generic outcomes. The formulation of the curriculum
and teaching and learning process at the Development Economics Study Program - FEB
Udayana is designed to meet the expected learning outcomes (ELO) and regularly
reviewed and communicated with all related stakeholders, including graduate
users. The availability of concentration choices allows students to attend
courses based on their specific interests, and as such, the curriculum structure
does not merely cover general subjects, but also specific ones. Information
regarding program specifications and its curriculum can be accessed freely from
the academic handbook available on the program’s website. Evaluation of the
learning process is performed regularly by students at the end of each semester
as a basis for future improvements (feedback). The three admission pathways
implemented by the university allow the study program to admit students from
diverse backgrounds. However, this would not affect the internal quality
standards of the program since the assessment system is already
well-established using standard assessment rubrics. The elements of assessment
are not limited to material comprehension, but also include soft skills mastery
in line with ELO listed in the Semester Learning Plan (RPS).
The quality of a study program is reflected by the availability
of both quality academic and support staff. All of Development Economics Study The program’s academic staff have fulfilled the required academic and competency
qualifications. All academic staff has solid educational backgrounds from some
of the best universities, as well as educator certificates as an indicator of
professionalism. Assessment of academic staff’s performances is conducted
through an integrated online system that outlines workload per semester
consisting of education, research, community services, and supporting
activities. Evaluation is conducted to ensure that academic staff performs their
duties in accordance with the Tri Dharma (Three Responsibilities) of Higher
Education. The planning and recruitment of support staff are fully conducted by
the university with educational background complemented by proper skill,
experience and work ethics as cornerstones. Regulations on workload and
remuneration systems are formulated in such a way as to boost productivity as
high as possible. Assessments of both academic and support staff’s performances
are clearly recorded in a single integrated system (https://imissu.unud.ac.id/). Students
enjoy superior services not only in classrooms but also while participating in
various activities outside the classrooms (extracurricular activities). Student
achievements can be seen from their participation in numerous competitions
outside the campus. Laboratory and library facilities are also organized in such a
way as to foster student competencies. Moreover, the existence of the Center for
Sustainable Development Policies Studies (CSDPS) as a joint research center
between academic staff and students, business incubator and investment gallery
of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) helps students shape their entrepreneurial
spirit from an early age. Internal quality assurance serves as a pillar for the
undergraduate program and is implemented in a systematic and sustainable
manner. This internal quality assurance is conducted at three different levels
starting from the study program level, faculty level and up to university level.
The implementation of quality assurance covers various aspects such as
curriculum, teaching and learning processes, up to supporting facilities and
infrastructures. The availability of supporting resources such as LCD
projectors, computer systems, Wi-Fi, and laboratories greatly enhances the
improvement of teaching and learning processes in the classroom. The existing
library can also be utilized optimally, where students are given free access to
online libraries and journals in addition to manuscripts that are already in
place. Researches conducted by academic staff and students are quite
remarkable. Many of these researches have been published, either in national or
international journals. The number of publications is getting higher year by
year. Some of the studies also became references in formulating government
policies. The results of the tracer study conducted by the study program show
a high level of satisfaction regarding competencies possessed by graduates.
The strengths of DESP include comprehensive curriculum
structure, competent academic staff with a transparent and integrated evaluation
system, and regular user surveys as a source of feedback. Meanwhile, DESP
students in English, academic staff-to-student ratio is deteriorating and
insufficient supporting facilities are DESP weakness aspects but already
included in improvement plans. Based on the result of the strength and weakness
analysis, it can be concluded that the DESP has all the capacity to promote the
accomplishment of good internal quality in order to achieve ELO.
The self-assessment performed implies that the DESP is
capable to meet the AUN quality standards. Current weaknesses are complemented
with improvement plans consisting of mandatory usage of international
references, improvement of academic staff-to-student ratio, and addition of new
supporting facilities to meet international standards.
